Reinke Manufacturing Co., Inc. was founded in 1954 by Richard F. Reinke on his family's farm just outside of Byron, Nebraska, initially building structural components such as chicken houses and laminated rafters. In the 1960s the company introduced the ELECTROGATOR®, described as the first reversible, electric, gear-driven rubber tire circular irrigation system. Today Reinke describes itself as the world's leader in mechanized irrigation, offering center pivots, lateral move systems, drive trains, smart water management, and water application products for growers.

He began by building structural components, specializing in chicken houses and laminated rafters. In the 1960s the company introduced the ELECTROGATOR®, described as the first reversible, electric, gear-driven rubber tire circular irrigation system; it included a collector ring allowing continuous rotation and spanning over 100 feet, and was also the first irrigation system with interchangeable pipe and truss components, the Reinke-exclusive O-ring gasket between pipes for a non-intrusive seal, and the first gear-driven towable system with rubber tires. Reinke states that it now stands as the world's leader in mechanized irrigation.
