Regiões TV

Regiões TV, also known as Regiões Televisão (RTV), was a Portuguese television channel that operated from 2008 to 2020. It was launched by the pay-TV operator ZON on 5 December 2008, evolving from the earlier RNTV (Região Norte TV) channel that had been carried on TVTEL. After ZON acquired TVTEL, the channel was rebranded and added to ZON's own platform with a new programming schedule that covered regions across the whole country rather than only the north. At its peak it was available on NOS (channel 198) and NOWO (channel 19). The channel ceased broadcasting on 3 November 2020. As a regional-interest channel, Regiões TV focused on content from different Portuguese regions, reflecting local news, culture and affairs. It was owned by ZON, which later became NOS following the merger with Optimus. The channel's history illustrates the consolidation of Portugal's pay-TV market and the shifting strategies of regional television within it.
