Overview

Rade Končar Skopje (formally Rade Končar – Kontaktori i Relei DOO) is a North Macedonian electrical-equipment manufacturer headquartered in Skopje. It specialises in low-voltage switchgear for industrial applications, and its best-known product family is the CNN series of motor contactors, complemented by reversing contactors, thermal overload relays, rotary cam switches, moulded-case circuit breakers (MCCBs) and push buttons. The company describes itself as a leading manufacturer of contactors in South-eastern Europe with more than 70 years of expertise, and it sells to customers in over 40 countries. The business traces its origins to 1947, when an electrical-repair enterprise called JUG was founded in Skopje. In the early 1960s it was integrated into the Croatian electrical group Končar, and in 1965 the low-voltage switchgear division was established as Rade Končar Kontaktori i Relei. That division became the core of today's company, which still carries the Rade Končar name. The company is listed on the Macedonian Stock Exchange under the ticker RADE and is a constituent of the MBID index. Rade Končar Skopje's product range covers AC and DC contactors from 9 A to 1000 A, single-phase and three-phase voltage devices, thermal overload relays, rotary cam switches, MCCBs and push buttons. Products are supplied in standard configurations but can be customised quickly for specific customer requirements. Beyond manufacturing, the company offers surface-treatment services such as zinc, copper, nickel and silver plating, passivation of copper and brass, phosphating, and vibratory cleaning. It has also developed systems for energy monitoring and management (EMMS), power-factor correction units and an intelligent street-lighting system marketed as RK-Light. Its customer base spans electric utilities, mines, steel mills, railroads and chain stores, reflecting a focus on industrial and infrastructure applications. Research and development is presented as an ongoing activity aimed at making products more reliable, flexible and customisable in line with international production and quality standards. The company remains active and continues to market itself under the Rade Končar – contactors & relays identity.

History

The company's history begins in 1947, when an enterprise for electrical repairs named JUG was founded in Skopje. For roughly a decade and a half JUG operated as a local electrical-repair business. In 1962 or 1963 (sources differ slightly on the exact year), JUG was integrated into the larger Croatian holding system RADE KONCAR – Yugoslavia and was renamed RADE KONCAR APARATNA TEHNIKA – Skopje. This integration connected the Skopje operation to the wider Končar electrical group, which had been established in Croatia and which gave the company its enduring name. In 1965, the low-voltage switchgear equipment division was formally founded as RADE KONCAR Kontaktori i Relei, as part of RADE KONCAR APARATNA TEHNIKA – Skopje. This division became the direct predecessor of today's company, and the first contactors were produced around this time. Over the following decades the Skopje operation developed into a specialist manufacturer of low-voltage electrical equipment, building a product range around contactors, relays and related switchgear. After the breakup of Yugoslavia and the independence of North Macedonia (then the Republic of Macedonia), the company continued to operate under the Rade Končar name. It became a listed company on the Macedonian Stock Exchange under the ticker RADE and is a constituent of the MBID index. The company describes itself as having grown into a business with a worldwide network of satisfied customers in more than 40 countries, and it continues to emphasise knowledge, hard work and dedication as core values. In the 2010s and 2020s the company has continued to market its CNN series of motor contactors and MBCNN reversing contactors, while expanding into adjacent areas such as energy monitoring and management systems (EMMS), power-factor correction units and intelligent street lighting (RK-Light). It also offers surface-treatment services including zinc, copper, nickel and silver plating, passivation, phosphating and vibratory cleaning. The company remains headquartered in Skopje, North Macedonia, and presents itself as a leading contactor manufacturer in South-eastern Europe with over 70 years of expertise.
