Overview

QSRP S.A. (Quick Service Restaurant Platform) is a Belgian quick service restaurant group that operates and franchises a portfolio of well-known fast-food brands. It is a subsidiary of the Belgian-Swiss investment fund Kharis Capital, founded by Daniel Grossmann and Manuel Roumain, and is led by Alessandro Preda. The group describes itself as a fast-growing company on a mission to become a market leader in the QSR sector, employing around 7,000 people across its headquarters and restaurants. QSRP's brand portfolio is deliberately complementary, spanning international icons and local champions. Burger King is the leading international brand in the portfolio, present in Belgium, Luxembourg and Italy, and serves as a cornerstone of the group. Quick is the local burger chain in Belgium and Luxembourg. O'Tacos, born in Grenoble in 2007, is a French Tacos specialist. Dunkin' is the largest coffee and donuts brand in the United States, which QSRP is bringing to France as exclusive master franchisee. Chopstix is one of the most recognised Asian QSR brands in the UK, and G La Dalle is a French pioneer in affordable burgers founded in 2014. The group also owns Nordsee, a leading European seafood restaurant chain with restaurants predominantly in Germany and Austria. Geographically, QSRP operates across Europe (Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the UK and Ireland), North Africa (Morocco), the Middle East (Saudi Arabia) and North America (Canada). Its journey began in 2014, and by 2022 it operated in more than 1,000 establishments across Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, Poland and Switzerland. The group continues to expand through acquisitions and master franchise agreements, including the 2024 deals to bring Dunkin' to France and to take a majority stake in Chopstix.

History

QSRP S.A. (Quick Service Restaurant Platform) is a Belgian quick service restaurant group that began its journey in 2014. It is a subsidiary of the Belgian-Swiss investment fund Kharis Capital, founded by Daniel Grossmann and Manuel Roumain, and is led by Alessandro Preda. The group's strategy has been to build a complementary portfolio of international and local fast-food brands through master franchise agreements and acquisitions. In 2014, QSRP became the Burger King Master Franchisee for Italy. In 2016, it acquired Quick BeLux, the local burger restaurant chain in Belgium and Luxembourg, from Groupe Bertrand, and also became Burger King Master Franchisee in Belgium and Luxembourg. The Quick acquisition was finalised in September 2016, with plans to develop the Burger King brand in Belgium and Luxembourg by replacing some Quick outlets, while relaunching the remaining Quick restaurants with a focus on their flagship products. In September 2016, QSR Belgium opened a new Quick restaurant in Gembloux and launched an exclusive Belgium-Luxembourg campaign with the slogan "Ton Quick, ton Goût". The first Belgian Burger King opened on 28 June 2017 in Antwerp at the Kinepolis site, replacing a Quick. Two months later, on 4 July, the first Walloon outlet opened in Charleroi at the Rive Gauche shopping centre. By December 2017, Burger King had one restaurant in Luxembourg and six in Belgium (Antwerp, Charleroi, Namur, Auderghem in Brussels, Bruges and Liège). In 2019, Burger King opened in Verviers, and in 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, a Burger King opened in Tournai. By August 2022, Burger King had 46 establishments in Belgium, including five in the Brussels-Capital Region. QSRP also holds the Burger King licence for Poland and Italy, which it has held since November 2014. In May 2018, QSR Belgium took control of O'Tacos, a fast-food chain specialising in French Tacos, with the aim of targeting younger customers and launching the brand internationally. In October 2018, shortly after O'Tacos, Kharis Capital acquired the German restaurant chains Nordsee and Go! Fish, with the ambition of becoming the European leader in quick service restaurants. Nordsee operates around 350 restaurants in Germany and Austria. In 2021, QSRP founded Chick&Cheez, a new fast-food brand specialising in fried chicken, with its first restaurant opening on 14 July 2021 in Liège. The brand hoped to open up to 38 restaurants in Belgium by 2024. In 2022, QSRP operated in more than 1,000 establishments across Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, Poland and Switzerland. In 2024, QSRP celebrated 10 years of its journey. That year, it signed a deal to bring Dunkin' to France as exclusive Master franchisee in the French market, made a strategic investment in Chopstix by acquiring a majority stake in the UK's premier Asian-inspired quick service restaurant chain, and made a strategic investment in G La Dalle, a French pioneer in affordable burgers. G La Dalle, opened in 2014 in Nanterre, had reached 80 restaurants by 2019 and planned to open around a hundred restaurants after the acquisition by QSRP. Today, QSRP describes itself as a fast-growing company guided by long-term visions, with a focus on sustainability as a crucial element in building its company culture and brand equity.
