Overview

PwC Singapore is the Singapore member firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), one of the world's largest professional services networks. Operating from Singapore, it serves multinational corporations, local enterprises, public sector bodies and financial institutions with assurance (audit), tax, and advisory services, and is part of the firm's wider Asia-Pacific practice. As a member firm of the PwC global network, it shares the PwC brand, methodology and quality standards while being organised under Singapore partnership and local regulatory arrangements, including oversight by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA). Its client base spans banking and capital markets, asset and wealth management, technology, media and telecommunications, consumer and industrial products, energy and government. Alongside traditional audit and tax compliance, the Singapore practice offers deals and transaction advisory, risk and regulatory consulting, cybersecurity and digital transformation, ESG and sustainability reporting, and workforce consulting. The firm is also known locally for its thought leadership, market surveys and its role in training and recruiting accounting talent in Singapore. Because PwC member firms are privately held partnerships rather than listed companies, PwC Singapore does not have publicly traded shares; its ownership rests with its partners. The brand is positioned as a premium, globally connected professional services provider, competing in Singapore with the other members of the global accounting networks.

History

PwC Singapore traces its roots to the global Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand organisations, which merged worldwide in 1998 to form PricewaterhouseCoopers. The Singapore practice developed as one of the established accounting firms in the city-state, serving the trading, shipping, banking and manufacturing economy that grew rapidly after Singapore's independence. As Singapore became a regional financial and headquarters hub, the local firm expanded its audit, tax and advisory capabilities to serve multinational clients operating across Southeast Asia. Within the PwC global network, member firms are locally owned partnerships that share a common brand, methodology and quality and independence standards, and PwC Singapore operates on this model under Singapore regulation. Over the decades the Singapore practice broadened beyond traditional audit and tax compliance into transaction services, risk and regulatory consulting, cybersecurity, digital and technology consulting, and sustainability and ESG advisory, reflecting the changing demands of clients in financial services, technology, consumer markets, energy and the public sector. The firm is also active in talent development in Singapore, recruiting heavily from local universities and running structured training and professional qualification programmes, and it publishes regular market surveys and thought leadership on topics such as banking, asset management, technology and sustainability. Its history is therefore less a story of a single founding date than of continuous evolution within a global partnership network, adapting its service lines to Singapore's role as a regional business and finance centre.
