Overview

Purbeck Ice Cream is a family-owned business established in 1988, dedicated to producing real dairy ice cream. The ice cream is crafted in Dorset and is described as 'seriously creamy'. It is made with 60% Purbeck milk and 22% Dorset cream, and offers over 40 different flavours. The products are gluten, nut and egg free with no artificial additives, no added colours, suitable for vegetarians and Halal accredited.

History

Purbeck Ice Cream was born as a result of diversification from dairy farming over 30 years ago. The business was started by Hazel and her husband Peter, who ran a 60 Friesian dairy herd on 126 acres opposite Corfe Castle in Dorset. With the introduction of milk quotas, they found it impossible to maintain the farm as a viable enterprise and decided to make their own ice cream. They started production in a converted building next to the dairy.
