Protectowire

Protectowire is a pioneer, innovator, and leading supplier of linear heat detection technologies, focused on servicing the fire detection industry since 1938. The company states it invented linear heat detection in 1938 and maintains the largest linear heat detection portfolio in the world. It manufactures linear heat detectors for the special hazard industry and offers interface modules for its PHSC, PLR, and CTI linear heat detectors. Protectowire is also the exclusive US distributor for Spectrex™ Flame Detection.

In early April of 1938, Gerald and Sarah Holmes tested, patented, and trademarked their fire detection system and the Protectowire Company Inc. was born. Protectowire began with the invention of linear heat detection in 1938. The first sample runs were installed in River House. In 1942, the Protectowire Company was registered, products were patented, and given FM approval; early Protectowire installs were with the US government in military sites during the build-up to World War 2. In 1946, Protectowire received UL Approval and the first marketing slogan was coined: "Save Life & Property from Fire with Protectowire." In 1953, Gerald Holmes met John E. Sullivan who became the legal council for the company.

  The SharpEye 40/40D-I, an ultra-fast multispectrum QuadSense IR3 flame detector, provides improved effective detection range, longest distance detection of hydrocarbon fires at up to 300 ft. (90 m), exceptional ultra-fast detection in under 50 msec.
