Overview

Progrès Versicherungen AG was a Swiss health insurance company headquartered in Dübendorf and a member of the Helsana Group. Its core business was the mandatory basic health insurance under the Swiss Health Insurance Act (KVG) together with optional supplementary insurance products covering outpatient care, hospital treatment, long-term care, dental treatment, loss of earnings and capital insurance. In supplementary insurance it cooperated with the wider Helsana Group. Founded in 1903 in Le Locle, Progrès operated for decades as a local health fund in the canton of Neuchâtel. From the early 1990s, as part of the Helsana Group, it expanded first across French-speaking Switzerland and later throughout the whole country. In 2004 the company, previously organised as a foundation, was converted into a stock corporation (Aktiengesellschaft). In 2008 its registered office moved from La Chaux-de-Fonds to Dübendorf as Helsana concentrated its activities at its new headquarters. On 1 January 2011 Progrès merged with Aerosana Versicherungen AG, another Helsana Group basic insurer. With the Helsana Group's brand harmonisation on 16 June 2013, Progrès lost its own brand presence and communicated only under the Helsana umbrella, while Progrès Versicherungen AG remained a separate legal entity. On 1 January 2022 it was fully merged into Helsana Versicherungen AG, and on 3 January 2022 it was deleted from the commercial register as an independent company. The brand is therefore best understood as a former regional health insurance brand that was absorbed into the Helsana master brand. Today, customers and products associated with Progrès are served under the Helsana name, and the official web presence is the Helsana website.
