Overview
PrJSC MHP, historically known as Myronivsky Hliboproduct, is a Ukrainian food and agritech company headquartered in Kyiv. Founded by Yuriy Kosyuk in 1998, it developed from an agricultural and feed enterprise into a vertically integrated group covering poultry breeding, hatcheries, broiler production, feed manufacturing, crop cultivation, oilseed processing, meat processing, food distribution, retail, restaurants, and food-service solutions. The company controls or coordinates much of the chain from agricultural inputs to branded consumer products, a structure intended to improve supply security, production efficiency, and quality control. MHP is best known for poultry. Its Ukrainian operations produce chilled and frozen chicken, while its wider portfolio includes processed meat, sausages, ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat meals, meat snacks, vegetable oils, and animal feed. The company markets products under Ukrainian brands such as Nasha Ryaba, Apetytna, Lehko!, Bashchynskyi, Super Fileo, RyabChick, Domestic Chicken, Ukrainian Chicken, and Kurator. Its export-oriented brands include Qualiko, Sultanah, Assilah, and Al-Hassana. Through the Perutnina Ptuj group, MHP also has significant Balkan operations and participates in regional brands including Perutnina Ptuj and Poli. The company exports more than half of its products to over 70 countries, with major destinations in the European Union, the Middle East, and Africa. Its international network includes manufacturing and distribution operations in Ukraine and the Balkans, along with subsidiaries or commercial entities in countries including the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and other European markets. MHP reports more than 25 logistics hubs in Ukraine and abroad and operates a large agricultural land bank across Ukrainian regions. MHP became the first Ukrainian agricultural company to obtain foreign equity capital through a London Stock Exchange initial public offering in 2008. Its international expansion accelerated with the acquisition of Perutnina Ptuj Group, completed in 2019, giving the group production facilities in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina and distribution capabilities serving a broad European market. In parallel, MHP shifted its strategic emphasis from the sale of agricultural raw materials toward value-added culinary products, branded food, retail, and food-service partnerships. The group also operates energy and environmental projects. Its MHP Eco Energy activities include three biogas complexes using poultry manure and other production waste to generate renewable energy and organic fertilizer. MHP has presented these projects as part of its efforts to reduce waste, improve energy independence, and lower emissions. The company has additionally invested in community development, employee and veteran support, rural initiatives, food safety systems, precision agriculture, and wastewater treatment. MHP remains active in Ukraine during the country’s war-related economic disruption. It states that employees serving in the military retain employment and salary support and that veterans receive medical, psychological, legal, rehabilitation, retraining, and employment assistance. In 2024, the company expanded its food-service direction, introduced the Super Fileo product, participated in SIAL Paris, acquired a controlling interest in KK & Sons, and reported the entry of Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company as a shareholder. The group is therefore positioned not simply as a poultry producer but as an integrated food platform with agricultural, manufacturing, export, retail, and business-to-business food capabilities.
History
MHP was established in 1998 by Yuriy Kosyuk, initially acquiring a controlling interest in the Myronivsky Cereal and Feed Mill. The company’s industrial poultry strategy took shape in 1999 when it acquired and modernized Peremoha Poultry Farm. Druzhba Narodiv Nova Poultry Farm and Starinska Poultry Farm joined the group in 2001, strengthening broiler and parent-flock capabilities. In 2002, MHP launched Nasha Ryaba, a chilled-chicken brand that became central to its Ukrainian consumer business. The group expanded its financing and industrial base during the following decade. It received an International Finance Corporation loan in 2003, used to modernize and expand production. A sunflower-seed processing plant opened in 2004. In 2005, MHP acquired Zernoproduct and the Katerynopil Elevator, broadening the business into grain cultivation, dairy farming, storage, feed, and oilseed processing. In 2006, it completed the Myronivka Meat Processing Plant Lehko!, described as one of Ukraine’s major facilities for ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat products. Agricultural businesses including Urozhai and Agrofort also joined the group. Production capacity increased substantially in 2007 through the first line of the Myronivska Poultry Farm, additional feed lines, and expanded hatching capacity. MHP also acquired Western Ukrainian agricultural enterprises. In 2008, it completed an initial public offering on the London Stock Exchange, becoming the first Ukrainian agricultural company to list on the exchange’s Main Market. The company continued adding value-added products, including Bashchynskyi meat and sausage products. A second Myronivka production line was completed in 2009, while oilseed-processing capacity was expanded to support feed production. The company’s largest Ukrainian expansion began in 2010 with construction of the Vinnytsia Poultry Farm in Ladyzhyn. MHP also increased its agricultural land base through additional farm acquisitions. In 2011, it initiated a biogas project using poultry manure at the Oril-Leader poultry operation. The first phase of Vinnytsia Poultry Farm entered service in 2012, and by the end of 2013 multiple growing zones were operating at full capacity. During this period MHP began exporting to the European Union, introduced quarterly dividends, and expanded its Ukrainian agricultural portfolio. Internationalization accelerated from 2014 onward. MHP exhibited at major food fairs including Gulfood and SIAL, expanded exports to approximately 50 countries, and introduced the Qualiko export brand. It added the Zakhid-Agro enterprise in 2015, opened a European office and production facility in the Netherlands in 2016, and began implementing Global G.A.P. agricultural management practices. The company also launched Village. Steps to Development, a rural-community micro-grant initiative. In 2017, it rebranded its corporate identity, started the second phase of Vinnytsia Poultry Farm, and highlighted its early adoption of HACCP food-safety systems. MHP negotiated the acquisition of Perutnina Ptuj Group in 2018 and completed the transaction in early 2019. The deal created a substantial Southeastern European platform, with facilities in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina and distribution across European markets. MHP also began construction of the Biogas Ladyzhyn complex. In 2019, the group described a strategic transformation from raw-material production toward culinary and value-added food. Its global depositary receipts were admitted for circulation in Ukraine. In 2020, MHP launched MeatMarket stores, Döner Market restaurants, and the Secrets of the Chef gastro studio, extending its presence toward retail and food experiences. In subsequent years it emphasized its position among Ukraine’s major agricultural holdings, its role as a significant taxpayer and investor, and its support for communities and personnel affected by the war. The group continued developing renewable energy, agricultural technology, and processed-food products. In 2024 it launched MHP Food Service, introduced Super Fileo, presented its culinary portfolio at SIAL Paris, expanded its Ukrainian logistics and meat-related holdings, and reported the arrival of SALIC as a shareholder.
