Privatbrauerei Specht

Privatbrauerei Specht is a German private brewery based in Ehrenfriedersdorf in the Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains) region of Saxony. Founded in 1844 as a cooperative, the brewery has been owned by the Specht family since 1954 and operates today as a family business under the partners Gerd Specht and Axel Specht. It produces a range of traditional German beer styles, including Pils, Export, Spezial, Landbier, Bockbier, and its dark specialty Schwarzer Specht. The brewery markets itself as offering 'Sächsische Braukunst' (Saxon brewing art) and 'vollmundige Biere der Spitzenklasse' (full-bodied premium beers). Its beers are distributed through beverage markets in and around Dresden, Freital, Chemnitz, and Zwickau, as well as through partner restaurants. The company is a small, regionally focused operation that emphasizes tradition and local identity.

The brewery was founded in 1844 as a cooperative in Ehrenfriedersdorf, Saxony. During World War I, an attempted sale to the Wernesgrüner brewery failed. In 1954, after the cooperative went bankrupt, the Specht family purchased the brewery, and it has remained under private ownership since. Following the political changes of 1989–1990 in East Germany, the brewery underwent significant modernization in the 1990s and 2000s. Today it operates as a family business run by Gerd Specht and Axel Specht, continuing the tradition of brewing in the Erzgebirge region.
