Overview
Princeton NuEnergy (PNE) is a U.S.-based advanced materials manufacturer founded in 2019. It develops proprietary, closed-loop processes for lithium-ion battery materials production built around patented low-temperature plasma-assisted separation (LPAS™) technology, which enables recovery, purification, and rejuvenation of battery materials without breaking cathode active material down into basic metal salts. PNE's near-term commercial priorities are producing Rejuvenated Cathode Active Materials through Cathode-to-Cathode® direct recycling and manufacturing high-purity Advanced Black Mass™. With facilities in South Carolina, New Jersey, and Texas, PNE is scaling a domestic platform intended to strengthen critical minerals security, reduce production costs, and support a more resilient U.S. battery supply chain.
History
Princeton NuEnergy was founded in 2019 as a U.S.-based advanced materials manufacturer. It developed proprietary, closed-loop processes for lithium-ion battery materials production, built around patented low-temperature plasma-assisted separation (LPAS™) technology. The company's platform enables the recovery, purification, and rejuvenation of battery materials without breaking cathode active material down into basic metal salts. PNE has focused on two near-term commercial priorities: producing Rejuvenated Cathode Active Materials through Cathode-to-Cathode® direct recycling and manufacturing high-purity Advanced Black Mass™ for flexible downstream processing. It has facilities in South Carolina, New Jersey, and Texas, and is scaling a domestic platform designed to strengthen critical minerals security, reduce production costs, and support a more resilient U.S. battery supply chain. PNE has also been recognized with awards including Top GreenTech Company, U.S. Department of Energy, Princeton Innovation, Clean Tech Open 2021 National Winner, and NJEDA / CSIT Award Recipient. Wistron is a significant investor in and partner with PNE, and the two operate a joint pilot production facility in McKinney, TX.
