Overview

Prime Intellect is an American artificial intelligence infrastructure company headquartered in San Francisco, California. It markets itself as "The Open Superintelligence Stack," a vertically integrated platform that lets organizations train, deploy, and continuously improve their own models across compute, training, inference, and sandbox environments. The company's pitch is built around the idea of "owning your intelligence" — giving customers control over their own models rather than relying solely on closed frontier APIs. The product surface described on the company's website spans four main areas. First, RL Environments: Prime Intellect provides tooling to turn any task into a reinforcement-learning environment, built on the open-source Verifiers library, with a single CLI loop for init, develop, eval, and push, and access to more than 2,500 community environments on its Hub. Second, Evaluations: hosted benchmarking for models, covering 100+ open-source models with no infrastructure setup and a public leaderboard. Third, Hosted Training: large-scale model training optimized for agentic workflows, with managed workflows, full visibility and control, and hands-on support from an applied research team. Fourth, Inference: dedicated or serverless inference for custom models with native LoRA support, one-click deployment for fine-tuned models, and LoRA adapters served alongside base models. The company distributes its tooling partly through a Python package, with the homepage showing a `pip install prime` command. It also offers a "Lab" product for post-training self-improving agents, and it publishes case studies; one highlighted customer is Ramp, which worked with Prime Intellect to train "Fast Ask on Lab," a small RL-trained subagent that helps the Ramp Sheets agent find answers inside spreadsheets and reportedly beat frontier models. Prime Intellect is backed by a notable set of investors and angels. Its homepage lists Founders Fund, Radical, NVIDIA, Intel, Andrej Karpathy, John Schulman, Dylan Patel, and Clem Delangue among its backers. This backing, combined with its open-source-oriented positioning, places the company in the emerging ecosystem of AI infrastructure startups focused on reinforcement learning, agent training, and decentralized or open model development. As of the available evidence, Prime Intellect is a private company. Wikidata describes it simply as a company in San Francisco, United States. The company operates globally through its cloud-hosted platform and open-source libraries, serving developers, research teams, and enterprises that want to train and serve their own models.

History

Prime Intellect is a San Francisco-based artificial intelligence infrastructure company. Public evidence available for this dossier is limited to its official website and a Wikidata entry describing it as a company in San Francisco, United States. The company presents itself as "The Open Superintelligence Stack," offering an integrated compute, training, inference, and sandbox stack under the banner "Own Your Intelligence." The company's product architecture is organized around four pillars. The first is RL Environments, which lets users turn any task into a reinforcement-learning environment. This is built on the open-source Verifiers library and uses a single CLI loop for init, develop, eval, and push, with more than 2,500 community environments available on the Prime Intellect Hub. The second pillar is Evaluations, providing hosted benchmarking for models with 100+ open-source models, no infrastructure setup, and a public leaderboard. The third is Hosted Training, aimed at large-scale models optimized for agentic workflows, with managed training workflows, full visibility and control, and hands-on support from an applied research team. The fourth is Inference, offering dedicated or serverless inference for custom models with native LoRA support, one-click deployment for fine-tuned models, and LoRA adapters served alongside base models. Prime Intellect also offers a product called Lab, described as a way to post-train self-improving agents. The company publishes case studies; one featured case study describes work with Ramp to train "Fast Ask on Lab," a small RL-trained subagent that helps the Ramp Sheets agent find answers inside spreadsheets. According to the website, the result beat frontier models. The company distributes tooling through a Python package, with the homepage showing `pip install prime`. It also invites prospective customers to start training or book a call/demo. Prime Intellect's investor base is a notable part of its public profile. Its homepage lists backing from Founders Fund, Radical, NVIDIA, Intel, Andrej Karpathy, John Schulman, Dylan Patel, and Clem Delangue. This mix of venture capital, strategic corporate investors, and well-known AI researchers and operators signals a focus on the developer and research ecosystem. No founding date, founder names, funding amounts, or executive team details are provided in the available evidence, so those details are omitted here. The company is private and active as of the evidence. Its market is global, delivered through cloud-hosted services and open-source libraries.

Prime Intellect announces acquisition of startup Moondream to accelerate inference business[3]

    Reported:

San Francisco-based 'neocloud' provider Prime Intellect announced it will acquire Moondream, an early-stage open-source model developer with fewer than ten employees based in San Francisco and Seattle. Deal terms were not disclosed; Moondream had previously raised $4.5 million. Prime Intellect said the acquisition mainly targets Moondream's team's ability to write high-performance inference-optimization software, including megakernel technology, in order to run open-source models on Nvidia servers at higher speed and lower cost than competitors and to serve customers such as robotics AI and computer-operating agents.
