History

El Segell del Primavera was founded in 2013 by Primavera Sound, the organizers of the renowned Barcelona music festival. The label was established with the goal of releasing and promoting both emerging and established artists on a national and international scale. Its first release was Headbirds' album "Sharon Highlights" on April 4, 2013. That same year, the label also put out Refree's "Nova Creu Alta" and The Free Fall Band's "Songs Our Days Pass Along Vol. I", along with singles by PAUS, Lee Ranaldo & The Dust, and Joana Serrat. In 2014, the label grew by adding artists such as Grupo de Expertos Solynieve, and saw new releases from PAUS, Joana Serrat, Lee Ranaldo, and The Free Fall Band. By 2015, the roster exceeded ten artists, with notable albums from Los Planetas ("Dobles Fatigas") and Christina Rosenvinge ("Lo Nuestro"). The label also expanded its stylistic range by signing electronic duos The Suicide of Western Culture and Der Panther, and new groups Núria Graham and The Saurs. In 2016, Sr. Chinarro and Los Hermanos Cubero joined the roster, and the label reissued Grupo de Expertos Solynieve's "Alegato Meridional" for Record Store Day. Subsequent releases include Jeremy Jay's "Demons" in 2018 and 107 Faunos' "El Ataque Suave" in 2020.
