History
The Presses universitaires François-Rabelais are a publishing house of the Université de Tours. They publish around thirty new titles each year. Their catalogue covers the vast field of knowledge: humanities and social sciences (history, archaeology, sociology, anthropology, geography, art history, etc.), letters, and medical sciences. An editorial committee of around twenty researchers and teacher-researchers from the Université François-Rabelais de Tours, sitting as specialists in a discipline, is responsible for the PUFR's editorial policy. The committee meets regularly every 6 to 8 weeks, depending on service needs. Its members take part in the PUFR's editorial orientations by selecting, from among the projects submitted to the PUFR, the works to be published on the basis of one or more reports rendered by one or more independent experts. Committee members designate the experts for the examination of each project; the names of these experts are not communicated to the authors, so as to guarantee freedom of expression. Committee members act in complete independence and undertake to preserve the confidentiality of debates. Manuscripts are selected by the PUFR editorial committee on the basis of the opinion of an independent expert; a second expert report may be requested by the editorial committee.
