History

President Transnet Corp. was established in October 1999 when Uni-President Enterprises Corporation, through its subsidiary President Chain Store Corp., signed a technical cooperation agreement with Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. of Japan. The joint venture aimed to bring Yamato's successful 'Takkyubin' (宅急便) personal parcel delivery service to Taiwan. Operations began on 6 October 2000, initially serving only northern Taiwan (Taoyuan and above) with 54 parcels on the first day. The service was branded '黑貓宅急便' (Black Cat Takkyubin), referencing Yamato's iconic black cat logo. Over the years, President Transnet expanded its network across Taiwan, including outlying islands such as Penghu, Xiaoliuqiu, and Kinmen. In 2009, the company introduced the 'Economy Takkyubin' (經濟宅急便) service, replacing document delivery with a patented foldable packaging system. The same year, mascots 'Kuroneko' and 'Shironeko' were born. In 2010, President Transnet received permanent brand authorization from Yamato Transport and expanded international delivery to Singapore and Shanghai. The company launched the 'icat' online shipping platform and mobile app in 2011. In 2013, it signed a cross-border logistics agreement with China's YTO Express and expanded same-day delivery to Taoyuan. In 2014, it reorganized its service centers from 113 to 79 districts and introduced electric scooters. In 2017, a new Taichung automated sorting center opened. In 2020, it introduced store-to-store delivery and obtained PIC/S GDP certification for pharmaceutical logistics. In 2021, it launched low-temperature fast-to-store service and QR code shipping labels. In 2022, the official LINE account was launched. In 2024, it introduced international payment options for cash on delivery. As of 2025, President Transnet employs about 6,900 people, operates 226 service locations, and has approximately 7,800 chain drop-off stores. It delivers over 100 million parcels annually.
