Overview
Pramsuviaz (Belarusian: Прамсувязь; Russian: Промсвязь) is a Belarusian state-owned industrial enterprise and electronics producer based in Minsk. It traces its origins to 13 September 1931, when the Belarusian Communications Administration opened an electromechanical workshop for telegraph apparatus and telephone switchboards. Over the decades it evolved from a repair workshop into a Soviet union-level plant, an experimental factory, a production association, and finally, on 23 February 2009, an open joint-stock company (ОАО «Промсвязь»). The company designs and manufactures a broad range of telecommunications and electronics products: digital television transmitters (RTL-1000M-T2 and RTL-2000M-T2), VHF radio transmitters, data storage servers (SZD5500T), server platforms (PS2288N), ADSL regenerators, corded telephones (M335, M337), smart-home security devices, biometric document and contact-card readers, optical cross-connect and outlet hardware, payment and reference terminals, fiber-optic communication nodes and modems, satellite and television antennas, and parcel lockers. It also provides contract manufacturing services including tooling, injection molding, metal stamping, powder coating, and assembly. Historically, Pramsuviaz was the largest producer of communication devices in Belarus, with major customers including Belposhta (Belarusian Post) and Beltelecom. Its products have been exported to Lithuania, Russia, and Singapore. The enterprise operates quality management systems certified to ISO 9001 (over 18 years) and environmental management to ISO 14001 (over 15 years). It employs roughly 300 people and remains an active, state-controlled manufacturer serving both the Belarusian telecommunications sector and industrial customers.
History
Pramsuviaz was founded on 13 September 1931, when the Belarusian Communications Administration opened an electromechanical workshop for telegraph apparatus and telephone switchboards. In February 1932, Anatol Aleksandrovich became the brigade leader of the fitters. On 19 May 1939, by Order No. 296 of the People's Commissariat of Communications of the USSR, the workshop was transformed into Repair Plant No. 22 for communications equipment. On 10 February 1966, by Order No. 11 of the USSR Ministry of Communications, the enterprise was transformed into the union-level plant "Promsvyaz," which began producing electronic relays and communication devices ChVT-2, KPP-10, and SUS-54. Four sections were built: painting, electroplating, printed circuit board assembly, and equipment tuning. On 27 December 1973, according to Order No. 690 of the USSR Ministry of Communications, the plant became an experimental plant. In 1978, the Promsvyaz plant was awarded a First Degree Diploma at the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy in Moscow. On 14 December 1989, by Order No. 376 of the USSR Ministry of Communications, the plant was transformed into a production association. On 1 January 1992, the Promsvyaz production association became an enterprise of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus. On 28 June 2001, Promsvyaz became a unitary enterprise. It became the first enterprise in Belarus to start producing cordless telephones with speakerphone. Later it established production of plastic cards for urban payphones. On 23 February 2009, the enterprise was transformed into an open joint-stock company. In 2012, a design division, a chief technologist service, and a technical control department were created. About half of the Soviet-era metalworking machines were replaced with two new machines, so that one machine instead of four was needed to make metal boxes. New casting machines produced by the Atlant plant in Baranovichi (Brest Region) were used to make plastic housings for modems, radios, and set-top boxes. As of 2013, the enterprise was the largest producer of communication devices in Belarus. Its largest customers were Belposhta and Beltelecom. For Belposhta, it manufactured payment and reference terminals for cashless card payments. It sold fiber-optic equipment for multi-story buildings to construction companies. Pramsuviaz had about 300 employees and produced satellite antennas and home telephones, television antennas and set-top boxes (digital radio transmitters), as well as climate cabinets. Communication devices were exported to Lithuania, Russia, and Singapore. As of 2020, OAO Promsvyaz produced digital television transmitters RTL-1000M-T2 and RTL-2000M-T2 with capacities of 1000 and 2000 watts respectively; VHF radio transmitters in the 87.5–108 MHz range with 10 kW power; SZD5500T data storage servers with 4 controllers of 16 GB cache each and 650 W power supply; PS2288N server platforms with two 24-core processors at 3500 MHz, 1866 MHz speed, and 800 W power; ADSL digital signal regenerators and "Meta" M-205 and M-212 radios; M335 and M337 corded telephones; a "Smart Home" security device with 7 sensors (door opening, motion, temperature, leakage, smoke, alarm, and video); biometric document and contact card readers (SKK-1); optical cross-connects and outlets (PYuRK); TPD-1 payment and reference terminals and cash payment terminals; fiber-optic communication nodes (modems) and shelves; satellite and television antennas, and parcel lockers.
