Overview
Poupart 1895 is a UK fresh produce specialist importer, founded in London's historic Spitalfields Market. It is part of the AgroBerries Group, alongside sister companies BerryWorld and PrepWorld. The company was founded by John Poupart and has evolved from a single Covent Garden pitch to part of a global produce network.
History
Poupart 1895 was founded in London's historic Spitalfields Market. Founder John Poupart built the business on close ties with growers and an eye for the freshest fruit. By the 1900s, the company was importing South African oranges; the 1920s put it on Covent Garden's Central Avenue with branches at every major UK port. It weathered the war, pioneered supermarket pre-packing, and introduced kiwis, ugli fruit, and kiwi berries to the UK. The late 20th century brought new momentum via Hillsdown Holdings, the creation of BerryWorld, and a move into Argent Group, which paved the way for specialist divisions, including Poupart Imports. In 2025, under AgroBerries ownership, it adopted the new name Poupart 1895.
