History

The origins of Moutarde de Meaux® Pommery® date back to 1632, when it took its place officially at royal tables. The product is a whole-grain mustard made exclusively near Meaux by the family business. The company Les Vinaigreries du Lion, founded in Lagny-sur-Marne in 1865 by Mr Mathon, passed to the Chamois family in 1890; it produced quality vinegar and supplied the vinegar used to prepare Moutarde de Meaux® Pommery® for many decades, and the company naturally took over the manufacture of Moutarde de Meaux® Pommery®.
