Plus Loin Music

Plus Loin Music was an independent French record label specialising in jazz, founded in Rennes in January 2007 by Joël Perrot, Sylvain Le Pennec and Yann Martin, who had previously co-founded the label Nocturne in 2001. The label built its identity partly through young artists and positioned itself as a generalist jazz label committed to supporting its roster. In December 2008 it acquired the rights to the jazz catalogue of Nocturne, which filed for bankruptcy and ceased activity in early 2009. Distribution of the Plus Loin catalogue was handled by Harmonia Mundi in 2008, and in 2012 the label merged with Abeille Musique, which then took over distribution. The label also expanded into live production, creating the Jazz à l'Étage festival in Rennes in 2010 and developing a booking agency, Plus Loin Booking, led by Tim Weigel. The independent label disappeared in early 2013.
