Overview
Pletzer Gruppe is an Austrian family-owned corporate group based in Hopfgarten in the Tyrol region. It was founded by Komm.-Rat Anton Pletzer, who was born in 1944 in Oberndorf bei Kitzbühel and grew up on the Melk-Alm on the Hahnenkamm. At the age of 19 he founded the firm Seeber & Pletzer OHG in St. Ulrich am Pillersee together with a professional colleague, making him one of the youngest entrepreneurs in Tyrol at the time. From that starting point he built a group that today rests on three pillars: real estate, tourism and industry. The company describes itself as being in its third generation and as operating for future generations, with a history of more than 60 years of growth. The group's real estate arm develops and manages commercial and residential space; the official website cites 385,000 square metres of lettable area. Its tourism division operates resorts and hospitality businesses, and the site reports around 200,000 overnight stays. The industrial division includes companies such as iDM, a heat-pump manufacturer, with the group reporting 150,000 heat pumps in operation. The Erber GmbH beverage business, which has launched a ready-to-drink Zirbenspritzer called Zirbizzz, also belongs to the group's industrial and consumer-goods activities. Across these businesses the group states it employs around 1,500 people. Manfred Pletzer built up and professionalised the industrial side of the group, internationalising it and turning it into a supporting pillar. He combines operational leadership with representative roles, having been a former federal chairman of the Junge Wirtschaft and, since 2018, vice-president of the Tyrol Chamber of Commerce. Anton Pletzer remains active as an investor and strategist, particularly in mountain railways and real estate. The group opened a new headquarters in Hopfgarten, described as a historic day and a significant milestone in its more than 60-year corporate history. Pletzer Gruppe remains a private, family-controlled business and is not listed on a stock exchange.
History
The history of Pletzer Gruppe begins with Komm.-Rat Anton Pletzer, born in 1944 as the son of a farming couple in Oberndorf bei Kitzbühel and raised on the Melk-Alm on the Hahnenkamm. After an apprenticeship as an office clerk in an installation business, he founded the firm Seeber & Pletzer OHG in St. Ulrich am Pillersee at the age of 19 together with a professional colleague, becoming one of the youngest entrepreneurs in Tyrol. From this base he pursued the three pillars that still define the group: real estate, tourism and industry. His practical experience in installation and construction was applied to real estate development across Austria. Between 1972 and 2004 he served as chairman of the TVB Hohe Salve tourism board, and he remains active as an investor and strategist, particularly in mountain railways and real estate. The industrial business was also initiated by Anton Pletzer. Manfred Pletzer then built up the industrial division of the group in his early years, systematically professionalising and internationalising it and turning it into a supporting pillar of Pletzer Gruppe. Today Manfred Pletzer combines operational leadership with central representative duties. His economic and political experience includes serving as former federal chairman of the Junge Wirtschaft and, since 2018, as vice-president of the Tyrol Chamber of Commerce. The group describes itself as being in its third generation and as acting for future generations, with more than 60 years of sustainable growth. Over the decades the group has expanded its real estate portfolio, its tourism resorts and its industrial companies. Its official website reports around 1,500 employees, 200,000 overnight stays, 150,000 heat pumps in operation and 385,000 square metres of lettable area. The group's industrial and consumer-facing activities include iDM, a heat-pump manufacturer, and Erber GmbH, which has launched a ready-to-drink Zirbenspritzer called Zirbizzz. In tourism, Pletzer Resorts have hosted international football teams for training camps, including 1. FSV Mainz 05, FC Bayern München U23 and Swansea City AFC. A recent milestone was the ceremonial opening of a new headquarters in Hopfgarten, which the group described as a historic day strengthening its roots and creating space for its future.
