Platan brewery

Platan is a Czech beer brand from the Protivín brewery. According to the brewery, the basis of the beer's taste is a long brewing history, high-quality water and the skill of South Bohemian brewers, who have brewed beer according to a traditional recipe for more than 400 years using crystal-clear water from deep wells, quality Czech malt and excellent Czech hops. The brewery states that the first written mentions of the Protivín brewery date from 1540, and that in 1711 it passed into the ownership of the noble Schwarzenberg family, with whom it remained for more than two hundred years. The name Platan comes from a beautiful triple plane-tree avenue lining the approach to the brewery gate, and Platan is described as a nationwide-known brand with a long history.

The brewery states that the first written mentions of the Protivín brewery date from 1540, and that the brewery has always been among the most important in the Czech lands. In 1711 it passed into the ownership of the noble Schwarzenberg family, with whom it remained for more than two hundred years. During the Schwarzenberg era, a beautiful brewhouse with copper kettles was built at the brewery, including an atypical square-shaped wort pan, in which beer is said to be brewed to this day. The brewery says its brewers have brewed beer with love and care according to a traditional recipe for more than 400 years, using crystal-clear water from deep wells, quality Czech malt and excellent Czech hops. The beer is made from quality South Bohemian water from the brewery's own wells, using a classic double-mash method; it ferments in open fermenting vessels and is matured for an appropriate time in lagering cellars.
