Overview
Pizzato Elettrica is an Italian industrial automation components manufacturer headquartered in Marostica, in the province of Vicenza. Founded in 1984 by Bernardo Pizzato and Mariarosa Bonomo as Pizzato di Pizzato B. & C., a general partnership initially focused on position switches, the company transformed into a limited liability company in 1988 and adopted the name Pizzato Elettrica. Over four decades it has grown into a specialist supplier of detection devices, human-machine interface command and signalling devices, elevator devices, and — increasingly central to its business — industrial safety devices and modules. The company's catalogue is broad: according to its own product pages, it offers more than 7,000 standard products and about 1,500 special codes, with customization available. Its safety range includes separate-actuator safety switches, hinge switches, RFID tamper-proof devices, safety handles for industrial guards, and safety modules. It also develops Gemnis Studio, its own software for creating, simulating and debugging programs for Pizzato safety modules. Pizzato Elettrica remains a family-owned private company. A first generational transition occurred in 2007, when Giuseppe and Marco Pizzato, sons of the founders, took over company management. International expansion began in 2013 with the opening of Pizzato Deutschland GmbH in Germany, followed by Pizzato France SARL in 2016, Pizzato Iberica SL in Spain and Pizzato USA Inc. in the United States in 2017–2018, Pizzato Korea Ltd. and Pizzato Elettrica India Ltd. in 2021, Pizzato Shanghai Trading Co. Ltd. in China in 2023, and Pizzato UK Ltd. in the United Kingdom in 2024 — eight commercial subsidiaries in total. Its main site and three other operational sites are located in Marostica, where a new headquarters became operational in 2019. The company has received recognition including the Premio Industria Felix 2018 as best medium-sized enterprise in the province of Vicenza, the CFIA 2019 Trophées de l'Innovation for the P-KUBE Krome safety handle, and the GIT SECURITY AWARD 2020 in the Safety and IT Security in Automation category for the same product.
History
Pizzato Elettrica was founded in 1984 in Marostica, in the province of Vicenza, Italy, by Bernardo Pizzato and Mariarosa Bonomo. The original entity, Pizzato di Pizzato B. & C., was a general partnership (società in nome collettivo) whose core business was position switches. In 1988 the company was transformed into a limited liability company and changed its name to Pizzato Elettrica; in the same year its first dedicated production plant was built. Between 1995 and 1998 new production plants were established, and the core business began to focus on the safety products market. In the early 2000s the company obtained its first ISO 9001:2000 certification, established its first headquarters, and launched its first safety module models. In 2007 the first generational transition took place: Giuseppe and Marco Pizzato, sons of the founders, took over the management of the company. During 2010–2012 the product range expanded with the introduction of command and signalling devices. The company also developed its first in-house software, Gemnis Studio, for creating, simulating and debugging programs to be loaded into Pizzato safety modules. From 2013 the company began expanding abroad, opening its first commercial subsidiary in Germany, Pizzato Deutschland GmbH, followed in 2016 by Pizzato France SARL in France. In November of that year it presented its first safety switches with locking and RFID technology manufactured by Pizzato. In 2017–2018 further foreign subsidiaries were established: Pizzato Iberica SL in Spain and Pizzato USA Inc. in the United States. During these years work also began on a new headquarters in Marostica, which became operational in 2019. In 2021 two new commercial subsidiaries were opened in Asia, Pizzato Korea Ltd. in South Korea and Pizzato Elettrica India Ltd. in India. In 2023 a third Asian commercial subsidiary, Pizzato Shanghai Trading Co. Ltd., was opened in China. In 2024 the eighth commercial subsidiary, Pizzato UK Ltd., was opened in the United Kingdom. Across its history the company has moved from a position-switch specialist to a broader industrial automation supplier, with safety technology — separate-actuator safety switches, hinge switches, RFID tamper-proof devices, safety handles for industrial guards and safety modules — becoming its core business in recent years. Its main site and three other operational sites are located in Marostica, alongside eight commercial subsidiaries abroad.
