Overview

Pirnar is a Slovenian family-owned brand and manufacturer specialising in the development and production of entrance doors made from aluminium, wood and wood-aluminium combinations. The company traces its origins to 1968, when the Pirnar family opened a craft workshop in Gameljne, near Ljubljana. Under the direction of Roman Pirnar, that workshop — initially focused on handles — grew into a business dedicated to the development and manufacture of aluminium entrance doors. The company is now led by the second generation of the family and is headquartered in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Pirnar positions itself as a global innovator in entrance doors and describes itself as one of the largest European manufacturers of aluminium entrance doors. Its product range covers entrance doors for single-family and multi-family houses, educational institutions and industrial buildings. Door collections include Optimum, Premium, Ultimum, Atrium and Pivot, alongside side doors and bioclimatic pergolas. The company develops its own handles and door pulls, and has introduced signature innovations such as the OneTouch collection with an invisible handle (2017) and the Theatrica entrance wall with facial-recognition technology (2019). Pirnar operates from two locations in two countries, covering technical development, industrial design, machine and manual material processing, production, marketing, sales and international transport. In Slovenia it runs showrooms in Ljubljana (Bravničarjeva 20) and in Miklavž na Dravskem polju near Maribor. Internationally, the company works through franchises and licensed partners in more than 33 countries, including the United States, Spain, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, South Korea and Dubai. Exports account for nearly 80 percent of sales. The brand has received numerous design and innovation awards, including German Design Awards, German Innovation Awards, Architizer A+ Award finalist placements, a Red Dot Award Honourable Mention and a BIG SEE Award, largely for the Ultimum Pure collection, the OneTouch system and the Theatrica entrance wall. Pirnar also holds AAA credit-excellence and Excellent SME Slovenia certificates. The company reports more than 450 employees and a 50-year family tradition, and its trademark is protected under trademark legislation.

History

Pirnar's history begins in 1968, when the Pirnar family established a craft workshop in Gameljne, near Ljubljana, Slovenia. In the years that followed, director Roman Pirnar expanded the workshop — originally focused on the production of handles — into a company dedicated to the development and manufacture of aluminium entrance doors. This transition laid the foundation for the brand's long-term specialisation in entrance solutions. Over the following decades the company grew into an internationally active manufacturer. In 2016 it opened a new business building at Bravničarjeva 20 in Ljubljana. In 2018 it opened a new production facility covering 24,000 square metres, which includes its own paint shop, glassworks, and production of handles, wood panels and tempered glass. This vertically integrated facility supports the company's ability to control design, materials and manufacturing quality in-house. Product innovation has been a recurring theme. In 2015 Pirnar introduced the Ultimum Pure collection. In 2017 it launched the OneTouch entrance door collection featuring an invisible handle of its own design. In 2019 it presented the Theatrica entrance wall, equipped with facial-recognition technology. These launches were accompanied by growing international recognition: German Design Award Special Mentions in 2015 and 2017, Architizer A+ Award finalist placements in 2016 and 2017, a German Innovation Award Special Mention in 2019 for illuminated-crystal and illuminated-metal handles (Labelux, Magmalux, Crystalux), and multiple 2019 awards for the Theatrica entrance wall, including a German Design Award, a German Innovation Award, a Red Dot Award Honourable Mention and a BIG SEE Award. In 2014 the company received the Slovenian Top Ten award and the Furniture Product of the Year 2014 award, and in 2018 it received a trade-fair recognition at the 51st MOS. Today Pirnar operates from two locations in two countries and covers technical development, industrial design, machine and manual material processing, systematically organised production, marketing with sales, and international transport. In Slovenia it maintains showrooms in Ljubljana and in Miklavž na Dravskem polju near Maribor. Internationally, it works through franchises and licensed partners in more than 33 countries, including the United States, Spain, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, South Korea and Dubai. Exports represent nearly 80 percent of sales. The company reports more than 450 employees and a 50-year family tradition, and its trademark is protected under trademark legislation. It also holds an AAA credit-excellence rating and the Excellent SME Slovenia certificate awarded by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia in cooperation with the credit agency COFACE.
