Overview

Pipolaki is a French brand founded in 1962 in Nay, at the foot of the Pyrenees, by André and Jean Olibet, who were beret makers. The brand initially created hats from Pyrenees wool for skiers and mountain enthusiasts. It gained fame when the Goitschel sisters wore Pipolaki hats at the 1964 Innsbruck Olympics. Today, Pipolaki offers collections of hats and accessories, all knitted and assembled in France, combining modernity and know-how.

History

Pipolaki was born in 1962 in the town of Nay at the foot of the Pyrenees. André and Jean Olibet, then beret makers, began designing some hats from Pyrenees wool. Both passionate about skiing, they made their first models for Annie Famose, a member of the French alpine ski team, and decided to call them 'Pipolaki'. In 1964, Christine and Marielle Goitschel won the giant slalom at the Innsbruck Olympics and appeared on the cover of Paris Match with their gold medals and Pipolaki hats. From then on, the brand became a must-have for the greatest skiers and the French alpine ski teams: Jean-Claude Killy, Annie Famose, the Goitschel sisters... All ski enthusiasts and mountain lovers wore a Pipolaki hat.
