Overview
Pioneer Pet, also known as Pioneer Pet Products, was founded by Betsy Lipscomb, a cat behaviorist, in the late 1990s. The company started with the Ultimate Scratching Post and expanded to offer a range of pet products including SmartCat litter, fountains, and scratching products. The company is dedicated to enhancing pets' quality of life and promoting humane solutions for cat behavior.
History
In the late 1990s, Betsy Lipscomb, a cat behaviorist and founder of SmartCat, started Cats International, a free hotline to help people solve their cats' behavior issues. She began making scratching posts from wooden fence posts wrapped in sisal rope. She convinced her husband, John, to manufacture a larger version, resulting in the flagship product, the Ultimate Scratching Post. In 1999, the company branched out to become Pioneer Pet Products.
