Overview

PIM / Ivan Milutinović is a Serbian construction company that specializes in waterway infrastructure, including ports, canals, and marine works. The company operates under its current name since 1952, though its roots trace back to the 1920s when early works were carried out on the Danube and Sava rivers in Yugoslavia. It was formed in 1951 through the merger of several smaller Yugoslav companies specialized in excavation, construction, and canalization, initially named "Dunav" and renamed "Preduzeće IVAN MILUTINOVIĆ" in 1952. The company has a long tradition of building ports and other facilities worldwide. Its activities are divided into three main areas: execution of capital investment works, production and delivery of construction materials, and provision of specialized services such as water transport, underwater works, design and consulting, engineering services, and ship repair. Notable projects include an elevated road over the Skadar Lake marshland for the Belgrade-Bar railway in 1958, and the filling of the Salt Lakes in Calcutta, India. The company has built maritime ports such as Paradip and Halidia in India, Shuwaikh in Kuwait, and Misurata and Benghazi in Libya. PIM is headquartered in Belgrade, Serbia, and remains a leading company for waterway construction in Serbia and the surrounding region.

History

The company's history begins in the 1920s with early works on the Danube and Sava rivers in Yugoslavia. Several smaller companies specialized in excavation, construction, and canalization carried out various river works between the two World Wars. In 1951, these companies merged into a single entity named "Dunav". In 1952, "Dunav" changed its name to "Preduzeće IVAN MILUTINOVIĆ", and under this name it has successfully designed and executed numerous projects across the country and the world. One of the first major successfully completed projects was an elevated road over the marshy land of Skadar Lake for the Belgrade-Bar railway in Yugoslavia in 1958. Three years later, the company made its first offer on the international construction market and contracted the filling of the Salt Lakes in Calcutta, India. Since then, PIM has undertaken many large projects in Yugoslavia and other countries. Its activities are organized into three main areas: execution of capital investment works, production and delivery of construction materials, and provision of specialized services such as water transport, underwater works, design and consulting, engineering services, and ship repair. Among the investment projects completed by PIM are maritime construction works including the ports of Paradip and Halidia in India, Shuwaikh in Kuwait, and Misurata and Benghazi in Libya. The company continues to operate as a leading waterway construction firm in Serbia and the region.
