History
Photoroom's origin is described on its About page: in 2019, co-founder Matt was working as a product manager at GoPro when the marketing team urgently needed new visuals for an app feature. With the designer out of office, he spent hours manually tracing edges with a lasso tool, and concluded there had to be a better way. Months later, Matt partnered with Eliot Andres, an engineer who recognized the potential of AI early on, to build that better way, and together they co-founded Photoroom.
