Overview

CREMER is a family-owned German group of companies founded by Peter Cremer in 1946, managed and coordinated from its headquarters in Hamburg. It operates worldwide through more than 60 subsidiaries with around 2,600 employees, organized into a Trade and Logistics Division and an Industry division. The group describes itself as a global specialist for the trade, processing and transport of agricultural, raw and basic materials, as well as oleochemical products.

History

What began in 1946 with courage, initiative, and the trading of scarce goods such as grain, writing paper, and steel mesh has grown into the globally connected CREMER Group of today. In a partially destroyed building in Hanover, 34-year-old Peter Cremer started trading in grain, laying the foundation for the international group of companies. In 1954 CREMER relocated to Hamburg, where the Port of Hamburg provided ideal conditions for international trade. In 1956 CREMER began producing its own compound feed, expanding its business model and taking on additional stages of the value chain. In 1961 Peter Cremer turned his attention eastward, with the first trading activities and production facilities established in Thailand, followed by additional locations in Indonesia and the Philippines. In 1966 Peter Cremer and Werner Fischbach established the Lübecker Maismühle, which later developed into Nordgetreide. The company describes itself as family-owned in its third generation, managed and coordinated from its headquarters in Hamburg.
