Overview

Pescafácil is a Spanish seafood processing company based in Burgos, founded in 1993 by the Llop family. It specialises in the elaboration and cooking of shellfish and cephalopods, with a particular focus on prawns (langostinos) and octopus, offering a wide range of products in both fresh and frozen formats. The company traces its roots to the seafood wholesale experience of Ramón Llop Pardo, a pioneer in the distribution of frozen products for Pescanova in the 1960s, and to the veterinary and business training of his son Daniel Llop Fernández. From its first rented 400 m² facility in the Pentasa 2 industrial estate in Burgos, Pescafácil grew by supplying freshly cooked shellfish to wholesale fresh-fish clients in Burgos, neighbouring provinces and especially the Basque Country. Over more than three decades it developed industrial cooking lines for prawns, langostinos, octopus and crayfish, and later expanded into imports and international sourcing. The company states that it has more than 30 years of experience dedicated to the processing of seafood, working to high quality standards reflected in its certifications. Pescafácil's main value proposition has been its ability to adapt to customer needs and preferences, offering customised solutions. Its product range spans fresh and frozen shellfish and cephalopods, with langostinos and octopus as flagship categories. The company serves wholesale, retail and foodservice channels, and its products reach the point of sale worldwide. In November 2025 Pescafácil became part of Grupo OMARSA, an Ecuadorian shrimp producer. This integration created a value chain stretching from the production of Vannamei shrimp in Ecuador to the processing and delivery of finished products at the point of sale globally. According to the company, the integration differentiates it in the market by guaranteeing a continuous flow of high-quality raw material directly from Grupo OMARSA's farms to consumers' tables. Pescafácil operates under Spanish and European food-safety and quality frameworks, and its website highlights certifications, sustainability and value-chain integration as core themes. The company remains an active Spanish seafood processor within a larger international group.

History

Pescafácil was born in 1993 as an initiative of the Llop family to secure the professional future of two of its children, Daniel and Ramón, during years of severe economic and employment crisis. The foundation was the professional experience of Ramón Llop Pardo, who had 30 years in the wholesale trade of seafood products. Don Ramón Llop Pardo had been a pioneer in the 1960s in the distribution of frozen products for Pescanova, and later founded, together with Jose Luis Fuentes, the important fresh-fish wholesale company Central Burgalesa de Pescados. This experience was complemented by the university training of his son Daniel Llop Fernández, a graduate in Veterinary Medicine with an MBA in fishing and aquaculture companies. In November 1993, Daniel and Ramón (Moncho) started operations in a rented 400 m² warehouse in the Pentasa 2 industrial estate in the city of Burgos. Initially, the business was based on a fragile alliance with a processor from the port of Huelva that lasted a year and a half. This partnership provided the school of traditional-style shellfish preparation — prawns, langostinos and carabineros in wooden boxes — and they began to process and supply freshly prepared shellfish to wholesale fresh-fish clients in Burgos and neighbouring provinces, especially the Basque Country, which was the main market due to its consumption and economic capacity. Soon Mara Prieto joined the team, forming the triangle that would lead the company for many years. In 1997 they installed their first industrial cauldron for cooking shellfish. The most important cooking lines were prawn, langostino, octopus and crayfish (at the time a very popular product in cocido). In 1998 they began importing shrimp from Ireland for cooking, incorporating international sourcing into their operations. Over the following decades Pescafácil expanded its processing capacity and product range, developing a broad offering of fresh and frozen shellfish and cephalopods. The company states that it has more than 30 years of experience dedicated to the elaboration and cooking of shellfish and cephalopods, working with the highest quality standards reflected in its certifications. Its greatest value, according to the company, has always been its ability to adapt to the needs and preferences of its clients, providing customised solutions. In November 2025 Pescafácil became part of Grupo OMARSA, an Ecuadorian shrimp producer. This integration generated a value chain spanning from the production of Vannamei shrimp in Ecuador to the processing and delivery of finished products at the point of sale worldwide. The company presents this integration as a differentiator in the market, allowing it to guarantee a continuous flow of the highest-quality raw material directly from Grupo OMARSA's farms to consumers' tables.
