Overview

Perfection Learning is a family-owned business founded by two educators, William Keay and Valborg Keay, in 1926. The company provides curriculum solutions for teachers and students, including Advanced Placement and Honors materials, standards-based instruction, and literacy and language arts programs. It serves over three million students each year.

History

Perfection Learning was founded in 1926 by William Keay, superintendent of Logan Public Schools in Iowa, and his wife Valborg, a high school math teacher. They started the Perfection Form Company with $10 in start-up money and a small loan from the local bank, printing school forms and mailing them to nearby schools. The company expanded into tests, first developing a Geometry test, then literature tests for popular and classic novels. During the Great Depression, William lost his job and devoted his time to the business. The company survived the Depression and World War II, continuing operations after the war.
