It was managed by the company Intertorg (ООО «ТД Интерторг»), which also controlled the supermarket chains Ideya, Spar (under franchise), and Norma. The chain was founded in 2003, and its first universam opened in April 2004 in Saint Petersburg. At its peak, the network included 402 universams under the People's 7th Family banner, alongside 12 Ideya supermarkets, 4 Spar supermarkets, and 21 Norma universams.
