Pathé Arena

Pathé Arena is a multiplex cinema located on ArenA Boulevard in Amsterdam-Zuidoost, Netherlands, operated by the cinema chain Pathé. It sits next to AFAS Live. The venue was once the largest cinema in the Netherlands by number of screens and seats, but its capacity was reduced after a renovation of its auditoriums in 2018. In 2019, the cinema attracted 1.4 million visitors. The cinema comprises 14 screens spread over two floors, with a total capacity of 3,246 seats. The largest auditorium, screen 14, has 480 seats and is used for IMAX screenings; its screen measures 200 square metres. A distinctive feature of the building is the illuminated staircases on either side of the escalator. Although the escalator route includes horizontal sections, like the adjacent stairs, it forms a single whole, partly a horizontal moving walkway. The cinema also has a 4DX auditorium with a capacity of 70 seats. As part of the Pathé chain, the venue shows mainstream and blockbuster films, offering premium formats such as IMAX and 4DX. Its location near the Johan Cruijff ArenA and AFAS Live makes it a key entertainment destination in the Amsterdam-Zuidoost area.
