Overview

P.A.T. Products is a family-owned, second-generation specialty chemical distributor and manufacturer founded in Maine in 1974. It supplies pigment dispersions, engineering thermoplastics, coatings additives, specialty chemicals, and food ingredients to manufacturers across North America. The company also manufactures select product lines in the United States with its own lab, production facility, and quality control.

History

P.A.T. Products was founded in Maine in 1974 by a husband-and-wife team with a focus on commodity trading. From the start, the company served industries including pulp and paper and animal feed. In the 1980s, PAT established its first long-term distribution partnerships with European producers of polyurethane systems and related products, and expanded its portfolio to include natural products like shellac and damar resin. In the 1990s, new partnerships added thermoplastics and additives for polyurethane systems, with a growing focus on footwear, and the decade marked the start of in-house liquid color dispersion production.
