Papéthèque

Papéthèque is a stationery business that has existed in Lyon for more than 150 years under the name Papeteries de la Soie. It offers Lyon residents a stationery range of more than 6,000 references in central Lyon. The store was taken over by 3 employees in 2011 and saved from closure. Stores in Marseille, Toulouse and Foch (Lyon) later complemented this history. These independent stores resisted the establishment of large standardized chains. The business is a member of a cooperative, which it presents as reflecting its wish for transparency, ethics and quality. Its economic success is linked to the creation of a website, and purchases on that site contribute to sustaining city-centre commerce.
