Panoramis

Panoramis is a commercial, leisure and business complex located in the Port of Alicante, Spain, beside the western dock (dársena de poniente). Inaugurated in 1998 as one of the main regeneration projects of the city's port front, it became for years one of Alicante's principal nightlife and dining destinations, housing cinemas, restaurants, cafeterias, pubs, nightclubs and numerous retail establishments. Over time, changing consumer habits and the arrival of new shopping centres caused a progressive decline in the complex's commercial and leisure activity, and it lost much of its tenant base. In 2021 the Port Authority of Alicante approved a fifteen-year extension of the administrative concession, conditional on significant investment to modernise the building and transform it into a business centre. Since then the complex has been marketed as Panoramis Life & Business, hosting coworking spaces, technology-company offices and professional services, while retaining only part of its commercial and dining uses. Today Panoramis Life & Business presents itself as a "Mediterranean powered workspace" and a "pioneer workspace where work meets life." Its offer combines a Workspace component — physical and virtual offices, MICE spaces and tailor-made solutions — with Gastro and Wellness services, within an ecosystem of complementary services. The complex states that it is home to a business centre with more than 1,000 people working there daily, and that it hosts events promoted by an international community of companies and workers. It also operates a technology environment controlling staff access and safeguarding company security. As a MICE reference, Panoramis can host congresses and conventions of the highest level and offers a strong range of rooms for training sessions, meetings and gatherings, plus an exclusive panoramic terrace. Among the most notable projects is the installation of the new headquarters of the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation of Alicante, announced in 2023. The building occupies a strategic position between the marina and the commercial dock, with several levels originally intended for retail, dining, multiplex cinemas, leisure and parking, articulated around open spaces with views of the port and the Mediterranean Sea.

The complex was promoted through an administrative concession granted by the Port Authority of Alicante to the company Marina de Poniente for the construction and operation of a shopping centre, multiplex cinemas, restaurants and parking. During its early years the centre housed cinemas, restaurants, cafeterias, pubs, nightclubs and numerous commercial establishments, becoming one of the main focuses of the city's nightlife. In the early 2000s the Port Authority even considered creating a third leisure zone on Muelle 5 to complement Panoramis and the Marina de Levante, including a project to connect both areas via an underwater pedestrian tunnel. The proposal was never executed. Over the years, changing consumer habits and the appearance of new shopping centres caused a progressive decline in the complex's commercial and leisure activity, and it lost a good part of its establishments. In 2021 the Port Authority approved the extension of the administrative concession for fifteen years, conditional on a significant investment aimed at modernising the building and transforming it into a business centre. Since then the complex has come to house coworking spaces, technology-company offices and professional services, retaining only part of its commercial and dining uses. Architecturally, the building occupies a strategic position between the marina and the commercial dock of Alicante. It has several levels originally intended for commercial premises, dining, multiplex cinemas, leisure and parking, articulated around open spaces with views of the port and the Mediterranean Sea. The reforms undertaken during the 2020s adapted much of the interior surface for offices and shared workspaces, preserving the general structure of the building.
