Panasonic announces recall of 640,061 LX drum washer-dryers in Japan and Taiwan over detergent dispensing defect
Panasonic announced on 2026-10-15 a recall of its LX series drum-type washer-dryers covering Japan and Taiwan, involving 21 models and 640,061 units, including 18 models (622,527 units) in Japan and 3 models (18,144 units) in Taiwan (NA-LX126BL, NA-LX128BL, NA-LX128BR, manufactured September 2022 to July 2025). The company said a sealing defect at the connection of the automatic detergent dispensing device may let detergent leak outside the tub; if it drips onto internal wiring, insulation could degrade, potentially causing local short circuits, overheating, smoke or fire. Six related incidents have been reported in Japan and one in Taiwan, with no injuries. Panasonic urged users to stop using the auto-dispensing function until repair, Taiwan Panasonic will provide free on-site inspection and parts replacement via a hotline and online registration, and the head of Panasonic's quality control center publicly apologized.
