Overview

Oto Riverside Terrace (オト リバーサイドテラス) is a mixed-use commercial complex located in Kami-Akedaiji-cho 2-chome, Okazaki, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. It sits just northeast of Higashi-Okazaki Station on the Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line and is directly connected to the station by a pedestrian deck. The facility is composed of a north retail building, a south retail building, a hotel building, and a parking building. The north retail and parking buildings are five stories above ground, the south retail building is three stories, and the hotel building is nine stories. The complex was developed as part of the City of Okazaki's "Northeast Block Effective Utilization Project." The developer is Higashi-Okazaki Station Northeast Block Complex Co., Ltd., a consortium of five companies including Starts Corporation. The land is owned by both the City of Okazaki and private parties, with a fixed-term business lease established between the landowners and the company. Bicycle parking opened in June 2019, motorbike and car parking in August 2019, the hotel opened on September 8, 2019, and shops and restaurants opened sequentially from early October 2019. An opening ceremony was held on November 2, 2019. In June 2020, the eel restaurant Unagi no Kanemitsu opened, completing the full opening of all stores. The name "Oto" combines two meanings: the "Oto" (乙) of the Oto River flowing in front of the facility, and the "Oto" (音, sound) of musical instruments resonating in Okazaki, a city known for jazz. The facility's concept is "a base that inherits and develops Okazaki's culture — a new century, Okazaki's watchtower." Because of its station-front location, it aims to blend the everyday appeal for local residents with the extraordinary appeal for visitors. Between the buildings and the Oto River, the newly developed Meidai Bridge Park was created. Major tenants include Grand Inn Higashi-Okazaki (hotel), Flower Shop HANATOKU River side, Karada Lab Seitaiin Daphne, Esthetic TBC Okazaki, Italian Kitchen DICO × Tanaka Kajitsuten Fruit to Tomodachi, Unagi no Kanemitsu, Kodawari Tonkatsu Ichibanya, Light Cafe Higashi-Okazaki, Italian CONNESSO - okazaki -, Pit House Higashi-Okazaki, OTO CLUB, Dining Bar Mellows, Ginza ni Shikakawa Okazaki, Meitetsu Hoiku Station Higashi-Okazaki Poppo-en, Lawson Higashi-Okazaki Station Front, Hot Yoga Studio LET'S Okazaki, and Anytime Fitness Higashi-Okazaki. The facility also hosts events such as regional food and sake fairs, morning yoga, and in 2023 the All-Japan Wanko Soba Championship. Oto Riverside Terrace serves as a commercial and cultural hub for Okazaki, leveraging its direct station connection to attract both daily users and visitors.
