Ontopic is a software house based in Italy, specializing in data integration and data access through virtual knowledge graphs (VKG). It was born as a spin-off of the Free University of Bolzano-Bozen and is now part of Digital Science. Ontopic offers Ontopic Suite, a no-code environment for building knowledge graphs, and provides services as core developers of Ontop, an open source software for building knowledge graphs.
History
Ontopic was born as a spin-off of the Free University of Bolzano-Bozen with the goal to develop innovative products and services in the field of data integration and data access through the emerging technology of virtual knowledge graphs (VKG). The founders were a mixed team of researchers, professors and administrative members of the university. The founders are: Prof. Diego Calvanese, Benjamin Cogrel, Ph.D., Prof. Guohui Xiao, Peter Hopfgartner, Prof. Marco Montali. Ontopic is now part of Digital Science, where it focuses on leveraging virtual knowledge graphs for enterprise data solutions.
