Overview
Olimpia (formerly Olympia) is a shopping centre located at Āzenes iela 5 in the Ķīpsala neighbourhood of the Kurzeme District in Rīga, Latvia. It opened on 12 December 2002 and was renamed Olimpia in October 2009. The centre is spread over three floors with a total area of roughly 25,000 m² and offers 636 parking spaces; it is served by several bus and trolleybus routes. Over the years the tenant mix has evolved from a general shopping centre into a destination with a strong sport and outlet profile. The official website highlights around 60 stores, a 2,500 m² entertainment park, ten dining venues, four electric-vehicle charging points, a 24/7 gym and an 837 kW solar park. Adidas Outlet and ECCO Outlet are among the sport and footwear anchors, while Rimi operates the supermarket after the renovation of the first floor. Ownership has changed several times. In 2015 the building was bought from Northern Horizon Capital by Partners Group. On 24 November 2020 it was announced that Laurus, a joint venture between Partners Group and Northern Horizon Capital, had sold Olimpia to Grinvest, an investment company active in real estate and renewable energy. The new owner planned to start renovating the centre and creating a leisure and entertainment park. In early 2023, with an investment of EUR 8 million, the transformation of the first floor began to improve energy efficiency and make structural changes; after the renovation the Rimi supermarket opened on 28 April. Today Olimpia positions itself as a sport-outlet and family-leisure destination in Rīga, combining discount sportswear, everyday retail, dining, children's entertainment and a large rooftop solar installation.
