History
Oficyna Wydawnicza "Impuls" was founded in September 1990 as Niezależne Wydawnictwo Harcerskie "Impuls" (Independent Scouting Publishing House "Impuls"). On 13 December 1990, the Provincial Court in Kraków registered it as the publisher of the quarterly "W Kręgu Wodzów". On 5 November 1991, the register was amended and the publishing house has since operated under the name Oficyna Wydawnicza Impuls. The publishing house started with titles in pedagogy. At the turn of 1990 and 1991, the series "Inspiracje edukacji" (Inspirations of Education) was published, supporting the educational reform movement in public and non-public schools at the level of classes and author programmes. In January 1991, the first volume of the series "Edukacja w wolności" (Education in Freedom) by Wiesława and Bogusław Śliwerski appeared, initiating a new quality of pedagogical literature. In the years 2001–2004, the subject matter of published books focused on the family and various forms of its support, children with intellectual disabilities, with disorders, disproportions and difficulties in development, and pedagogical therapy. The company held publishing patronage over the International Conference "Edukacja alternatywna", whose sixth edition took place in October 2009 in Łódź. The publishing house specializes in books from the following scientific disciplines: pedagogy, special education, psychology, sociology, criminal law, social rehabilitation, philosophy, art, music.
