Overview

Offizin Verlag is a publisher that offers books in categories such as 'Kritische Beiträge zur Bildungswissenschaft' and 'Karl Korsch'. It publishes works by authors including Wolfgang Abendroth and Karl Korsch. The publisher delivers via Die Werkstatt Verlagsauslieferung.

History

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Fritz Schmidt began printing leaflets and small brochures for the Easter March, the Socialist German Student Union, and the Extra-Parliamentary Opposition (APO) in his barn on an old 'Heidelberg'. As the 'Socialist Bureau' grew in importance in the 70s, he founded the 'Offizin Druck- und Verlagsgesellschaft' together with typesetter Dieter Klusmeyer, supported by numerous friends. It mainly printed critical works council newspapers. Since 1993, social scientist Michael Buckmiller increasingly engaged with Offizin Verlag, where initially the publication series 'Diskussionsbeiträge des Institut für Politische Wissenschaft der Universität Hannover' appeared, then the writings of Karl Korsch and Wolfgang Abendroth. These were followed by the conference reports 'Kritische Interventionen' of the 'Loccumer Initiative kritischer Wissenschaftler und Wissenschaftlerinnen', inspired mainly by Peter von Oertzen, and the series 'Kritische Beiträge zur Bildungswissenschaft' edited by Klaus Ahlheim. The printing company unfortunately had to close.
