History

Oeneo's published history begins in 1838 with the creation of Tonnellerie Moreau in Charente, followed by Tonnellerie Seguin in 1870 and the cork company Sabaté in Roussillon in 1939. In 1970 Rémy Martin acquired the Seguin Moreau brand. In 2001 the Sabaté Diosos group was born as a global partner of world wine brands, and on 18 June 2003 Sabaté Diosos became Oeneo. In 2005 the Diamant I plant in Spain began operating with a capacity of 2,500 tonnes of Diamant-treated cork flour using supercritical CO2. In 2008 Oeneo acquired 49% of Boisé France (high-end oenological woods). In 2010 the Diamant II plant (Spain) started up, doubling supercritical CO2 grain treatment capacity. In 2014 Oeneo acquired Vivelys, founded in 1993, offering consulting, innovative equipment and oenological woods (Boisé® brand), and the new Diamant III plant (Céret, France) allowed Diam Bouchage to increase production by 700 million corks to a total capacity of 2 billion corks per year. In 2015 Oeneo acquired 100% of the Portuguese group Piedade, founded in 1963 and a reference producer of cork stoppers, strengthening Oeneo's position in the cork stopper market.
