Overview
OCHI Holdings Co., Ltd. is a Japanese holding company headquartered in Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture. It was established on October 1, 2010, through a single-share transfer (kabushiki iten) that made the long-established building-materials trading company Ochi Sangyo its wholly owned subsidiary. The holding company was listed on the Fukuoka Stock Exchange at its creation, moved to the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in November 2013, was promoted to the First Section in November 2014, and was reclassified to the TSE Standard Market in October 2023. The OCHI Group is a specialist trading house (senmon shosha) centered on housing building materials and equipment. Its core Building Materials segment purchases interior materials, plywood, exterior walls, roofing, kitchens, toilets, baths and other housing equipment from specialized manufacturers and supplies them to builders and housing manufacturers. The Processing segment pre-cuts wood for house construction, including 2x4 panels and conventional and metal-fitting methods, and supports structural calculations and design. The Environmental Amenity segment wholesales commercial and household air-conditioning, heating and refrigeration equipment and related comfort products. The Engineering segment undertakes construction of commercial facilities, public civil engineering works and interior work for condominiums and office buildings, and also operates nursing-care-related businesses through DS TOKAI. The Other segment includes industrial materials sales, worker dispatch and software development. According to the company, the OCHI Group ranks first in sales in the Western Japan region among specialist building-materials and housing-equipment trading companies, and fourth nationally. Its main customers are builders and housing manufacturers rather than end users, and it positions itself as a supply-chain partner that handles ordering, inventory management and proposals for a wide range of building materials. The group operates through numerous subsidiaries, including Ochi Sangyo, Home Core, Toso, West Hauser, Soken, Sakaguchi Kenzai, Marutaki, Takemoku, Maruko Toyo, TRESSA, I-Build, Sanko Kanamono and Kyowa in building materials; Matsui and Taiyo Sangyo in environmental amenities; Nishi-Nihon Framing, Yodopre and Ehime Precut in processing; DS TOKAI, IM Tech, Choho Construction, Nihon Chosa, Hagaya Construction and Yuda Construction in engineering; and Taihei Shoko, Hit-Eel and Nihon System Solution in other businesses. The group has pursued a medium-term management plan emphasizing higher profitability, expansion of its business portfolio through M&A, development of next-generation human resources, and stronger corporate governance and internal control. It has also highlighted sustainability themes such as promoting zero-energy houses, using domestic timber, and handling environmental and eco-related equipment. The company continues to be led by President Michihiro Ochi and maintains its headquarters in Fukuoka, with an additional office in Hakata-ku.
History
OCHI Holdings Co., Ltd. was established on October 1, 2010, through a single-share transfer (kabushiki iten) of Ochi Sangyo Co., Ltd., a building materials trading company. The decision to create a holding company was resolved at Ochi Sangyo's board meeting on May 21, 2010, and approved at its ordinary general meeting of shareholders on June 29, 2010. Upon establishment, OCHI Holdings listed its common shares on the Fukuoka Stock Exchange, and Ochi Sangyo became a wholly owned subsidiary. In January 2011, the company transferred Ochi Sangyo's subsidiary management operations (excluding the building materials business) to itself through a corporate split. On November 25, 2013, OCHI Holdings listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, and on November 25, 2014, it moved to the First Section. On October 20, 2023, the company changed its market classification on the Tokyo Stock Exchange to the Standard Market. It has also emphasized sustainability initiatives such as promoting zero-energy houses, using domestic timber, and handling environmental and eco-related equipment.
