History
Ośrodek Rozwoju Edukacji (ORE) was established on 1 January 2010 by Order No. 19 of the Minister of National Education dated 10 December 2009, which merged two Warsaw institutions: the Central In-Service Teacher Training Centre (Centralny Ośrodek Doskonalenia Nauczycieli) and the Methodological Centre for Psychological and Pedagogical Assistance (Centrum Metodycznego Pomocy Psychologiczno-Pedagogicznej). The new centre inherited the tasks of both predecessors, combining nationwide teacher training with psychological and pedagogical support. In July 2016, the National Centre for Supporting Vocational and Continuing Education (Krajowy Ośrodek Wspierania Edukacji Zawodowej i Ustawicznej) was incorporated into ORE, further expanding its remit to include vocational and continuing education. This consolidation made ORE the principal national institution for in-service teacher development and school support in Poland. Since its creation, ORE has been supervised by the Minister of National Education and operates as a public institution. Its headquarters are at Al. Ujazdowskie 28 in Warsaw, and it also uses a training centre in Sulejówek. Over the years, ORE has carried out numerous national and international projects, often co-financed by the European Union. Under the current European Funds for Social Development (FERS) programme, it runs projects on inclusive education support centres, digital development of education in local government units, e-materials for vocational competences, modular e-textbooks, popularisation of educational toolkits, the infozawodowe.men.gov.pl portal, and individualised methodological guidance. ORE also develops and disseminates core curricula, teaching programmes, sample teaching plans and textbooks commissioned by the Minister of Education, and provides publications and materials for every stage of education. It organises conferences, seminars, training courses, information and consultation meetings, cooperation and self-education networks, and help and experience-exchange forums. Its programmes include "Zachować pamięć. Historia i kultura dwóch narodów" (Preserve Memory: History and Culture of Two Nations) and training in historical education and education for values. The centre is currently led by Director Mariusz Biniewski and deputy directors Marzenna Habib, Małgorzata Szeja, Emilia Kowalczyk-Rumak and Marta Dziubecka.
