Overview
Nulll Records was a Belgian independent record label founded in 2000 by musician Stijn van Cauter. The label primarily released van Cauter's own projects but also issued works by other artists in the extreme doom metal genres—particularly funeral doom and drone doom—as well as ambient and dark ambient interpreters. As a sub-label and part of a collective idea, van Cauter ran the download label Nulll Infra. In the context of these activities, the project The NULLL Collective emerged. After 2011, van Cauter ceased activity with Nulll Records. He retained the similar web address Nulll.net for presenting his own work. He later resumed label activity under the name Void Overflow, through which he exclusively releases his own music as free downloads. Under that label name, he also reissued his own releases that had previously appeared on Nulll Records, while leaving releases by other artists untouched. The label is no longer active; most releases remain available as free downloads on archive.org, and original CD booklets and inlays are still available for many albums. SVC, who ran the label, continues to create music.
History
Nulll Records was founded in 2000 by Belgian musician Stijn van Cauter. The label predominantly released van Cauter's own projects, but also served as an outlet for other artists within the extreme doom metal spectrum, especially funeral doom and drone doom, as well as ambient and dark ambient acts. As a sub-label and part of a collective concept, van Cauter operated the download-only label Nulll Infra. The project The NULLL Collective also emerged from these activities. The catalog includes releases such as Zaraza's "Live is Death Postponed" (2004) and The No-Tone Project's "Gravity of Moon" (2003), both issued without catalog numbers. Nulll Infra exclusively released downloads, with catalog numbers corresponding to the month of release. After 2011, van Cauter discontinued Nulll Records. He kept the similar web address Nulll.net to present his own work. He later resumed label activities under the name Void Overflow, through which he exclusively releases his own music as free downloads.
