History
NPO Toriy originated in the Soviet Union's strategic electronics sector. On June 16, 1959, a decision of the Communist Party's Central Committee and the Council of Ministers established a new electronic-industry enterprise in south-west Moscow. Its assigned purpose was to develop and bring into production powerful and very-high-power microwave devices for the Moscow missile-defense system. Construction proceeded rapidly. The first stage of the engineering and production facilities became operational in December 1961, equipped with contemporary production technology. During 1961–1963, scientists and engineers from NPP Istok in Fryazino helped form the enterprise's specialist workforce. Construction was completed in 1963, allowing the organization to operate as a fully established research and production site. On February 12, 1966, the Ministry of Electronic Industry created the Scientific Research Institute of Electronic Devices, known as NIIEP, together with a pilot plant. The new organization was based on an earlier research institute and pilot production facility and was subordinated to the ministry's First Main Directorate. A December 1967 government decision authorized the construction of a new pilot-production building with a closed technological cycle, intended to consolidate development and manufacturing capabilities. The research organization was renamed the Titan Research Institute in November 1971. Its associated plant remained part of the same institutional structure. In June 1975, the Soviet Ministry of Electronic Industry established the Scientific and Production Association Toriy by combining the Toriy research institute, its pilot plant, the Luch plant in Kostroma, and a Toriy branch plant in Vereya. The Titan institute served as the association's principal enterprise and research center. The association received the Order of the October Revolution on March 29, 1976, in recognition of its contribution to the development of Soviet high-power microwave electronics. Its technical portfolio expanded across traveling-wave tubes, radar and television klystrons, communications and control-system tubes, magnetrons, accelerator components, cathodes, and cathode-heating assemblies. The organization also became involved in medical equipment, vacuum pumps, vacuum components, and other industrial products. According to the supplied reference material, Titan remains the principal developer of microwave tubes and linear accelerators within the organization. Toriy's facilities in and outside Moscow support manufacturing and specialized equipment production. The association is currently part of Ruselectronics, itself within Rostec's Russian industrial holding structure. The supplied sources provide limited information about post-Soviet restructuring, current product volumes, export activity, finances, and present corporate governance beyond the identification of Dmitry Trofimov as director from 2017.

Products and positioning
Specialized Russian supplier and developer of high-power microwave vacuum electronics, accelerator technology, and related industrial equipment.
Microwave vacuum electronics
Traveling-wave tubes
High-power microwave amplification devices used in ground-based and airborne radar and in other systems requiring controlled amplification of high-frequency signals.
Microwave vacuum electronics
Klystrons
Amplifying klystrons are associated with radar, television-broadcast transmitters, communications and control systems, and linear accelerators. They form one of the association's principal microwave-device families.
Accelerator equipment
Linear accelerators
Toriy develops and produces linear accelerators and related microwave components. The Titan institute is identified as the organization's main development center for accelerator technology.
Microwave vacuum electronics
Gyrotrons
High-power microwave devices listed for use in systems associated with nuclear reactors and other demanding industrial applications.
High-voltage vacuum control tubes
Titrons
The association claims to be the world's only producer of new high-voltage vacuum control tubes of this type. The cited applications include electron-beam welding installations and computed-tomography equipment.
Vacuum-tube components
Cathodes and cathode-heating units
Components used in vacuum electronic devices, including cathodes and assemblies designed to heat them during operation.
