History
The origins of Novoferm date back to the Isselwerk Werth GmbH, founded in 1955, and the Metalltürenwerke in Haldern, founded in 1962. These merged in 1970 to form Isselwerke GmbH & Co. KG. The Hoesch AG initially acquired 25% of the company shares and in 1990 took over all shares. In 1992, the company was renamed Novoferm GmbH, and it acquired a stake in the Netherlands and established sales companies in the Netherlands, Poland, Hungary and Switzerland. To further expand, from 1993 it gradually acquired Siebau Siegener Stahlbauten and Riexinger Türenwerke. Novoferm Belgium N.V. followed in 1994, and the portfolio was expanded with the acquisition of the French Lutermax S.A. in 1997. In 1998, the Dortmund plant was opened as a sectional door factory. In 2000, a joint venture was formed with Dong Bang Steel Door Inc./Korea. In 2001, Tormatic GmbH (drive technology) was acquired. In 2003, the Novoferm Group was taken over by the Japanese Sanwa Group. Novoferm acquired TST Tor System Technik in 2004. In 2006, it acquired bemo Brandschutzsysteme GmbH and founded Novoferm Door in Poland. In 2008, DSS Docking Solutions und Service GmbH was founded, and in 2010, Novoferm Vertriebsgesellschaft was established to bundle sales activities in Germany. In 2014, Alpha Deuren International B.V. was acquired. In 2016, the French group Norsud was taken over. In 2018, Novoferm acquired Bolton Gate Service Ltd., which specialises in maintenance, repair and service in the UK market. In 2019, Novoferm took over the Swedish Robust AB, a leading steel door producer in Scandinavia and the UK. In 2021, the French Manugestion Group was acquired, focusing on installation, maintenance and service of industrial doors and loading systems. In spring 2025, Novoferm celebrated its 70th company anniversary.
