Overview
The North British Railway was a major Scottish railway company founded in 1844, headquartered in Edinburgh. It built and operated extensive lines in eastern and central Scotland, including the East Coast Main Line to England. In 1923 it was merged into the London and North Eastern Railway under the Railways Act.
