History
Nitto Shinko Corporation traces its origins to 1949, when Shinko Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (株式会社新興化学工業社) was established on 29 September. In 1957 the company received capital investment from Nitto Denko Corporation and changed its name to Shinko Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (新興化学工業株式会社), beginning a long relationship with the Nitto Denko group. Through the 1970s and 1980s the company expanded its manufacturing base in Fukui Prefecture. A Maruoka plant (now the Maruoka Office) was newly built in 1970, followed by a second plant in 1976 and a third plant in 1984. These facilities supported production of adhesive tapes, insulating materials and related industrial products. In 1995 the company obtained ISO 9001 quality certification (1994 version). A decisive turning point came in 1997, when it merged with the Electrical Materials Division of Nitto Denko Corporation and changed its name to Nitto Shinko Corporation. This integration aligned the company more closely with Nitto Denko's electrical and electronic materials business. Environmental certification ISO 14001 (1996 version) followed in 1998, and the third plant was expanded in 1999. In 2000 the company invested capital in Kosei Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., which was renamed Fukushima Nitto Shinko Corporation. Further quality and environmental certifications were obtained in the 2000s: ISO 9001 (2000 version) in 2003, a new E building at the second plant and ISO 14001 (2004 version) in 2005, and ISO 9001 (2008 version) in 2010. International expansion began in 2012 with the establishment of Nitto Shinko (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (日東新能源(蘇州)有限公司) in China, alongside construction of a fourth plant. An experimental building was added in 2013 and a general administration building in 2015. The company updated its environmental certification to ISO 14001 (2015 version) in 2017 and its quality certification to ISO 9001 (2015 version) in 2018. In 2021 it obtained IATF 16949 (2016 version) certification, reflecting its role as an automotive materials supplier. In 2023 Fukushima Nitto Shinko Corporation was merged into the company. A new technology center was established in 2025, and in 2026 the Fukushima business site was transferred. As of 1 February 2026 the company reported capital of 482.5 million yen and 436 employees, with Katsuyoshi Jo serving as representative director and president. Its head office remains in Maruoka, Sakai, Fukui, with sales offices in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Kyushu.
