Nissan ARC, Ltd. was established in December 1990 with investment from Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and 35 major Nissan group companies, starting with 47 employees. In February 1991, it began accepting analysis orders from customers outside the Nissan group. In October 1995, it opened the Atsugi Analysis Center at Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.'s Technical Center in Atsugi City and started operations. In August 2002, it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. In April 2015, it was designated as a research institution certified by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) for Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research. In April 2020, its Morphology Analysis Team in the Phenomenon Analysis Section acquired ISO/IEC 17025:2017 certification.
